Two major drivers are responsible for an increased need to know who is on your network and who is accessing your online services:
1. network mobility: anytime anywhere online;
2. educational mobility: distance education and student mobility (ECTS).
Identifying users is a prerequisite for servicing them. So what is needed to achieve this? It turns out that many components come into play: student administration systems, login systems, and of course the services or applications themselves. This presentation will identify the components, their relationship, and the state of the art in integrating these pieces into a single authentication and authorisation infrastructure puzzle.
